The services we offer
Blinds, curtains and shutters, measured and installed by the same person who quotes them.

Blinds
Roller, blockout, light filtering, sunscreen, venetian and vertical. A bedroom you want dark gets blockout, and a living room with a view usually gets sunscreen.
Roughly $1,400 to $3,500 for a full house
2 to 3 weeks from the day you accept the quote

Curtains
S-fold sheers and blockouts, on their own or layered together on a double track. They hang softer than a blind and change how a room feels as well as how much light gets in.
Roughly $5,000 to $10,000 for a full house
4 to 5 weeks from the day you accept the quote

Shutters
Timber, polymer and aluminium. They sit inside the window frame, and you tilt the blades open or shut as the day goes on.
Roughly $6,000 to $18,000 for a full house
2 to 3 weeks for Australian made, 8 to 10 for imported
Awnings, flyscreens and screens
Ask about any of these when we come out.
Outdoor blinds and external awnings
Ziptrak, Zipscreen and E-zip. Straight-drop blinds for a deck, patio or pergola, which turn an outdoor area into somewhere you can actually sit in westerly sun or a southerly.
Flyscreens
Window and door screens, made to measure. Usually worth doing as a batch rather than one at a time.
Security screens and doors
We fit these too, and we hold the security licence to do it, number S00024008. Screen doors and window screens, measured and made for the opening they go on.
Ask when we come out for the blinds and they go on the same quote.

Which window covering suits which room
Most people arrive knowing they need something on the windows and not much else. This is the short version of the conversation we have at every quote.
| Room | Usually the right answer | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Main bedroom | Blockout blind, or sheers with a blockout curtain behind | Darkness and night-time privacy. West-facing rooms need it most |
| Kids' bedroom | Blockout blind, cordless. Or shutters | Same reason, plus no cords within reach |
| Living room | Sunscreen blind if you have a view, S-fold sheers if you want it softer | Keeps the light, loses the glare |
| Dining room | Sheers or a light filtering blind | Brightness matters more than darkness |
| Kitchen | PVC venetian or a sunscreen roller | Wipeable. Steam and splatter rule out fabric |
| Bathroom | Polymer shutters | Polymer copes with steam and wipes clean. Timber swells and fabric goes mouldy |
| Sliding door | Split roller blind, vertical blind or panel glide | A split roller blind gives you privacy with easier access to the door |
| Media room | Blockout curtains, Ziptrak interior blinds, or shutters | A standard blind leaves light at the edges |
| Front of the house | Shutters | Adds to the look from the street as well as inside |
Plenty of houses end up with a mix. Shutters at the front, blinds through the bedrooms, sheers in the living room. We quote it room by room so you can see what each one costs and decide where the money goes.

How a job runs once you get in touch
You get in touch
Send the form or ring us. We get back to every enquiry by the next working day.
We measure and bring the samples
We come out and measure every window you want done, and the factory makes everything to those exact measurements. We take them at the quote, before you have agreed to anything. The samples come with us, and we will leave them at your place for a few days so you can see the fabric in your own light.
One quote, itemised room by room
You get one quote for the whole job, itemised room by room. On blinds it usually lands within 24 hours.
The order goes in
Blinds two to three weeks, curtains four to five, shutters two to three Australian made or eight to ten imported.
We install it
Including any curtain tracks.
Window coverings for Hunter builders and contract work
We already do contract work: turnkey builds, insurance jobs and retirement village fitouts. Window furnishings sit near the end of a programme. If they run late it shows up immediately, and it lands on your handover date rather than ours. That makes this a different job from a retail one, so here is how it runs and where the limit sits.
The lead time starts at the check measure, not at the deposit
This is the one that catches people out. The factory cannot start until it has the exact measurements, so the clock begins there rather than on the day you place the order. We take the check measure at the quote, before anything is agreed, which means the dates you plan around are the real ones.
One number to ring
Whoever quotes your job is the same person who measures it and fits it, so nothing gets lost between an estimator and an installer.
One quote for the whole job, itemised
Room by room, or stage by stage if that is how your programme runs.
Licensed and insured, with $20 million public liability
Send through your site inductions and compliance paperwork and we will fill them in.
We will tell you if we cannot hold your date
Give us the number of dwellings and the week you need them done, at the quote. You get a straight answer then, rather than in the week it is due.

We come back
Our own installation work is covered for twelve months. If something plays up after that, ring us and we will still come out and look at it.
We will talk you out of what you do not need
A frosted-glass window can often be left bare, and we would rather you kept the money for the rooms that need covering.
“We recently had curtains and blinds installed by Handy Valentine Blinds and couldn’t be happier with the experience. The service was great from start to finish, with excellent communication throughout the entire process.
The quality of the curtains is lovely and exactly what we were hoping for. Professional, friendly, tidy, and made sure everything was cleaned up properly before they left.”

Common questions about blinds and curtains
Not sure what you need?
Ring us and describe the room. It is a two minute conversation and it is the one we have most often.
What does it cost to do a whole house?
Blinds usually land between $1,400 and $3,500. Curtains between $5,000 and $10,000. Shutters between $6,000 and $18,000. What moves it most is the fabric or material you pick and the size and number of your windows.
How long does it take?
Blinds are two to three weeks from the day you accept the quote. Curtains are four to five weeks. Shutters are two to three weeks Australian made or eight to ten imported. Everything is made to measure, so the lead time is the factory rather than us.
Can I mix them across the house?
Most people do. A mix of shutters, blinds and curtains across different rooms is common, and we quote each one separately so you can see where it is worth spending.
Do you have a showroom?
No. Shop lighting changes how a fabric looks, so we bring the range to your place instead. Keep the samples for a few days and look at them against your own walls, in morning and afternoon light, before you pick one.
Do you work with property managers and real estate agents?
Yes, it is where most of our work comes from, and agencies across Newcastle and Lake Macquarie use us. Quotes on blinds usually come back within 24 hours, and we carry $20 million public liability.
Do you charge for a quote?
No. The measure and quote cost nothing.
