What we fit most weeks
Blinds are the bulk of the work: rentals, new builds and whole houses.
A whole house costs less in blinds than in curtains or shutters. Roller blinds and verticals are usually two to three weeks from the day you accept the quote, often less if the fabric is in stock.
$1,400 to $3,500
Roughly what a full house of blinds costs. What moves that most is the fabric you pick and the size and number of your windows.
Two to three weeks from the day you accept the quote.
Roller blinds
The workhorse. It is what most Newcastle homes and rentals end up with.
One piece of fabric on a roller, up or down, nothing to catch or tangle. They suit almost any window, and there is a fabric for every job.
Picking that fabric is the real decision. See light filtering and blockout below.
Blockout blinds for bedrooms and west-facing rooms
In a west-facing bedroom through a Newcastle summer, a blockout blind is the difference between sleeping in and being awake at half five.
The fabric has a backing that stops the light getting through. It also takes the edge off the heat coming through the glass, which matters more than people expect on the western side of a house.
No roller blind blocks light completely, though. There is always a small gap at the sides where the fabric is narrower than the bracket, so for total darkness ask us about a channel or a pelmet when we measure.
Light filtering and sunscreen blinds
Two different jobs that get confused with each other.
Softens the light and gives you privacy day and night, but you cannot see out through it. Living rooms, dining rooms, anywhere you want brightness without being on display.
A fine mesh. It cuts the glare and the heat but you can still see out, and during the day people cannot see in. It suits a window with a view you would rather keep.
At night with the lights on, sunscreen gives you no privacy at all. That is what a blockout is for, and it is why plenty of rooms end up with a double roller.
Double roller blinds
A main bedroom or a living room often needs light and a view by day and a dark room at night. A double roller does both with two blinds on one bracket: a sunscreen or light filtering fabric at the front and a blockout behind it.
You run the sunscreen through the day for light and a view. At night or whenever you want the room dark, you bring the blockout down. It is the blind equivalent of running a sheer and a blockout curtain together.
It costs more than a single blind. Keep it for the rooms you actually live in.

Venetian blinds, timber, PVC and aluminium
Venetians let you control the angle of the light as well as the amount. The horizontal slats tilt, so you can keep the view and lose the glare.
Warmer, and suits living rooms, studies and large windows.
Better in a kitchen or bathroom where a timber slat would eventually cop moisture.
Thinner and cheaper again. It holds up just as well anywhere there’s moisture, if you’d rather save a bit without giving up the wet-area performance.
The trade-off is that they take more cleaning than a roller.
Vertical blinds for sliding doors and wide windows
On a sliding door or an especially wide window, a roller gets heavy and awkward and a venetian gets enormous. Verticals get around that with slats that slide open to one side rather than lifting. You can tilt them for light and slide them clear when you want to walk through.
They are common in rentals for that reason. We fit a lot of them for agencies.
Other blinds we can quote
Panel glide blinds
Wide flat panels that slide across each other on a track. A good fit for large windows and sliding doors. The look is closer to a room divider than a blind.
Ziptrak interior blinds
A roller blind that runs inside side tracks, so the fabric is held on both edges as it moves up and down. Less light leaks in at the sides than with a standard roller, and the finish looks cleaner and more fitted. They work well in bedrooms, media and theatre rooms, offices and commercial spaces, and any large window where light at the edges would bother you.
Motorised blinds
Any of the above on a motor, with a remote or an app. Worth it on anything high, wide or behind furniture.

How to pick the right blind for the room
A quick guide to what we usually recommend, room by room.
| Room | What usually works |
|---|---|
| Main bedroom | Blockout or a double roller with sunscreen at the front |
| Kids' bedroom | Blockout. Ask about cordless, see the safety section |
| Living room | Sunscreen if you have a view, light filtering if you do not |
| Kitchen | PVC venetian or a sunscreen roller. Something wipeable |
| Bathroom | Not a blind. Polymer shutters handle steam far better |
| Sliding door | Split roller blind, vertical or panel glide |
| West-facing anything | Blockout. Mention the heat to us when we measure |
| Media room | Blockout with a channel or pelmet |
Roller blinds for rental properties around Lake Macquarie
Most of our blind work comes through Newcastle and Lake Macquarie agencies. We are licensed and insured.
Quotes usually come back within 24 hours. Email the job through and we’ll price it from there. Once it is approved, the blinds are usually installed in two to three weeks, often less if the fabric is in stock.
If a property has to be listed or tenanted sooner, ring us rather than using the form. If the fabric is in stock, we can put the order through as an emergency, which the factory charges 10% extra for. We would rather tell you that up front than surprise you with it.
Roller blinds and verticals are what most agencies go with. Quick, hard to damage, and cheap to replace one at a time when a tenant does.
Corded blinds and young children
Corded blinds are supplied with the safety devices required under the Australian standard, fitted as part of the installation.
Got young children? Cordless and motorised blinds have no cord at all, and shutters sidestep the question too. Ask us about them when we come out.
What happens after you send the form
You get in touch
Send the form or ring us. We get back to every enquiry by the next working day.
We measure, and the samples come with us
We come out and measure every window. Those are the measurements your blinds are made to. The fabric samples come with us, and we can leave them with you for a few days if you want to see them in your own light.
An itemised quote, usually within 24 hours
You get an itemised quote for the whole job.
The order goes in
Once you accept, the order goes in. Two to three weeks, often less.
We come back and fit them
Installed and cleaned up on the day.

I couldn’t be happier with the service and workmanship. I initially had my roller blinds installed and was so impressed with the service that I had Ben return to install Ziptrak awnings, front security doors and sliding security doors. From start to finish, he was reliable, professional and very competitive on price. The attention to detail and quality of workmanship were fantastic, and everything was completed to a very high standard. I live in Carrington and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to anyone looking for quality work, great service and a tradesman who genuinely takes pride in what he does. Roller blind questions: cost, lead time and fabrics

Not sure what you need?
Ring us and describe the room. It is a two minute conversation and it is the one we have most often.
0427 626 518 Get my free quoteWhat does a full house of blinds cost?
Usually between $1,400 and $3,500. Fabric choice is the biggest variable, then how many windows you have and how wide they are. We price it window by window so you can see exactly where the money is going.
How long do blinds take?
Two to three weeks from the day you accept the quote, often less if the fabric is in stock. We cannot promise under two weeks because it depends on the fabric you pick, so we quote two to three and beat it where we can.
Can you do it faster if I am up against a date?
Usually. If the fabric is in stock, we can put the order through as an emergency, which the factory charges 10% extra for. For a rush job, ring us instead of filling in the form.
What is the difference between blockout, light filtering and sunscreen?
Blockout stops the light and gives you privacy day and night. Light filtering softens the light and gives you privacy, but you cannot see out. Sunscreen cuts glare and heat while letting you see out. It stops people seeing in, but only during the day. Plenty of rooms end up with a double roller so you get two of those on one window.
Will a blockout blind make the room completely dark?
Not on its own. There is always a small gap at the sides where the fabric is narrower than the bracket. For a properly dark room, ask about Ziptrak interior blinds.
Are your blinds child safe?
Corded blinds are supplied with the safety devices required under the Australian standard, fitted as part of the installation. With young children in the house, ask us about cordless and motorised options, which take the cord out of the equation entirely.
What is the warranty on blinds?
Roller blind fabric and vertical slats are covered for five years. Mechanisms, chains, brackets and tracks are covered for two. Motorised parts are covered for five years, though not the batteries.
Venetians depend on the material: aluminium and PVC are five years, timber is three. Hardware and cords are two.
Our own installation work is covered for twelve months. The warranty does not cover fading or accidental damage. If a blind has copped either, ring us anyway and we'll come and take a look.
Do you work with property managers and real estate agents?
Yes. Blinds for Newcastle and Lake Macquarie agencies are the bulk of our week. Quotes on blinds usually come back within 24 hours, and we carry $20 million public liability.
Can I see the fabric before I decide?
Yes. We carry the fabric range in the ute and will hold it up against your own wall, and we'll leave it with you longer if you want.
Do you charge for a quote?
No. We do not charge to come out, measure or price a job, and nothing is owed until you accept.
